Everybody loves to save a bit more money. Why not on Taobao? Even if the items are already very cheap, saving a little more is always welcome. This guide will show you how you can save even more on Taobao using seller issued coupons, especially if you are buying in bulk.
As an example, we are going to use these carabiners to demostrate how to save money on Taobao. It may be just a few cents here and there, but remember it all adds up in the long run, especially if you buy a lot from Taobao. The picture below shows the original price of an item without using coupons.
There are two ways which you can get coupons from a seller's shop.
Tap on the Get Coupons button next to the item in your shopping cart, as shown below.
The following pop up will appear. Usually it is good to take the coupon closest to but less than your item's total price. The item in this example costs ¥38.4, and we can take and use the ¥30 - ¥3 coupon. Of course, you can take all the coupons, but they will not be much use if you are not hitting the minimum amount you are required to spend to use the coupon. Tap the Take button as shown below to take the coupon.
Once you have taken the coupon, a notification that you have successfully taken the coupon will appear. Note that you can only take a coupon once per day. If you have taken a coupon previously and have not used it, you cannot take the same coupon again. Coupons also have a validity date, as highlighted below in red, but usually the seller will refresh the coupon automatically when it expires. You will have to redeem the coupon again if it expires before you used it.
You can redeem coupons on the page of the item you are interested in as well. Tap on the Discounts button as shown below to see all the coupons the seller has to offer.
Tap on the redeem coupon button on the new pop up that appears, as shown below.
Once you have redeemed the coupon, a notification that you have successfully taken the coupon will appear. Note that you can only take a coupon once per day. If you have taken a coupon previously and have not used it, you cannot take the same coupon again. Coupons also have a validity date, as highlighted below in red, but usually the seller will refresh the coupon automatically when it expires. You will have to redeem the coupon again if it expires before you used it.
When you try to redeem a coupon again after you have redeemed and not used it, you will see an Unable to redeem message, like the picture below.
Tap on the Finish button as shown below to close the coupon pop up.
When you return to your shopping cart to check out the item, the discount from the coupon you just redeemed is automatically applied if you qualify for the discount.
Seller issued coupons are only available for their own shop. They also do not stack, so you cannot redeem 2 coupons and attempt to use them at the same time. You can, however, buy multiple items from the same shop to hit a minimum amount to use a discount coupon.
Also, not all sellers issue coupons. An example of a seller without coupons is shown below.
